Auroch

Will the wild ox consent to serve you? Will it stay by your manger at night? Can you hold it to the furrow with a harness?
Will it till the valleys behind you? Will you rely on it for its great strength? Will you leave your heavy work to it?

Job 39:9-11

This depicted image is an oil painting, vibrant and warm-toned, and captures a dynamic scene at the forefront of the fields.

The focal point of the composition is a large and lumbering bovine animal, an auroch, in its natural environment. The animal’s distinct features, including horns and long shaggy coat, add to its striking appearance.

The black and intelligent-looking animal faces the viewer directly, its large forehead and minimalist nose forming a sturdy frame around its brown eyes.

The hues of yellow and orange discolors contrasts against the cloudy skies and expansive fields which dominate the background.

The clouds, a rich tapestry of black, gold and blue hues, with the white peeking through, grant an ethereal quality to the image, which graduates to a more realistic look at the vegetation and the mountainous hills in the distance.

The painting is engaging with fine attention to detail and creative use of colors.
