The Lord is my Light

The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27:1

A dramatic seascape painting depicts a stormy night at sea.

A tall, white lighthouse stands sentinel on a rocky promontory, its light beam piercing the dark, turbulent sky. A small, wooden building sits beside the lighthouse, possibly a keeper’s cottage, lit with a warm interior light.

The sky is a mixture of ominous, dark gray clouds and areas of a golden, light-orange hue, suggesting a dramatic sunrise or sunset, likely just before or after nightfall.

Several ships are visible on the choppy water, battling the waves. The waves are depicted with great detail, showing their frothy crests and powerful movement against a rocky coastline.

The colors are rich and deep, with a focus on the contrasts between the dark water, the light of the lighthouse, and the stormy sky. The overall impression is one of both danger and beauty, of strength and resilience in the face of a powerful natural force.
